Electrico – B-sides Live at the Power Station

Electrico return in 2021 with a collection of renewed songs from their last three albums: We Satellites (2008), Hip City (2006) and So Much More Inside (2004).

The decision to breathe new life into their earlier songs for their new EP, B-sides Live at the Power Station, was made spontaneously. It led to the trio’s original members – David Tan (vocals and lead guitar), Desmond Goh (bass guitar) and William Lim Jr (drums) putting together an impassioned recording: a culmination of several months of intense practice and a 10-hour recording session. The live production includes contributions from keyboardist-arranger Jonathan Shin, guitarist Daryl Tay, and a chamber group, which comprises violinist David Loke, cellist Stella Wu, trombonist Erwin Tan and French hornist Luke Chong.

Electrico

Few bands are as aptly named and instantly recognisable as Electrico. It’s easy to see why they have been regarded as indie pop-rock virtuosos since their debut album, So Much More Inside (2004). Across two other distinct albums, Hip City (2006), and We Satellites (2008), they consistently demonstrate an allegiance to the perfect hook and an accessibility which has garnered them acclaim. In May 2021, they unleashed a surprise EP, namely B-sides Live at the Power Station, rewiring some of their favourite but rarely heard tracks which deserve as much attention as their biggest hits. They then enter a forward-looking phase with Left of the Century, an EP of four all-new tracks, each wryly confident and reliably infectious.

Lionel Tan, founding member of T’ang Quartet, brings together next-generation musicians for new exciting collective, Tangent Moves

Lionel Tan plays principal mentor to a rotating group of talented young musicians to develop original content and cultivate the music scene here. One is a rising name from the classical realm, the other is an acclaimed DJ from the electronica world – what sparks would they create together? In the past few months, violinist David Loke Kai Yuan and DJ-turntablist-producer KoFlow jammed and recorded five original tracks for their collaborative EP, Tangent, out now on all digital streaming platforms. The EP is also the first project to kick off the launch of Tangent Moves, a new and exciting cross-genre music collective aimed at exploring new ways of performing and honing their craft.
