Sound artist/electronic producer Mervin Wong performed music from his latest release, the four-track EP,
Akasha. Originally presented as a live listening experience, it was borne out of a collaboration with multidisciplinary artists Joshua
Tirados Suarez and Sarah Isabelle Tan who work with solid volumes and fluid fabrics. An all-encompassing experience, it was driven by
performance and enhanced by object, texture, tone and place.
Raised in chambers of string, Mervin Wong took a moment to recognise the viola as his truest limb.
The tectonic shift to this deeper, more enduring register has shaped his foray into electronic music-making. In service of
resonance, every grain is burnished to the bone. His sounds return to matter, where footsteps span light years. Mervin Wong is
a performer, violist, composer, and electronic producer. He is an artist deeply dedicated to the shared experience of
sound.
